Beach Africa Festival
SGB-Cape Scaffolding Systems, Durban Branch,
provides the majority of the temporary structures for
Kwa-Zulu Natal’s prestigious VODACOM Beach Africa
Festival, touted as the “worlds greatest beach
festival” and held on Durban’s popular
North Beach annually.
The festival is promoted by OCTAGON
S.A. and attracts 1.3 million spectators over a 10
day period, with events
such as a highly rated international surfing event,
night surfing, Jet-ski wave jumping, paragliding, volleyball,
motor racing, flea markets, a cable slide and music
festivals.
SGB-Cape erects 280 tons of scaffolding over
4 weeks for numerous structures including VIP seating,
judge’s
viewing towers, the cable slide tower, stages, platforms,
speaker towers and flagpoles.
ICC Cricket World Cup 2003 Temporary Seating
Scaffolding Systems was contracted by
the ICC cricket World Cup to supply and erect 42,000
temporary seats for the Cricket World Cup in 2003.
All designs and erections were monitored
by Arup and given a clean bill of health as no risks
could be
taken with a prestigious event of this nature.
All scaffolds were inspected prior to each fixture.
3,400 tons of scaffolding was erected
in a 3 month period between November 2002 and February
2003 and
this included the traditional Xmas period. The
venues were scattered nationally and included:

S.A. Presidential Inauguration 2004

SGB-Cape Scaffolding Systems was contracted to assist Chattels
and Ackerbou with the preparations for the Presidential
Inauguration , VIP banquet and Concert at the Union
Buildings in Pretoria, following the Country’s
third democratic election.
SGB-Cape supplied and erected 500 tons of scaffolding
and 6450 square metres of decking for banqueting tents,
kitchen tents, viewing platforms and seating stands
which culminated in a very successful day of celebration.
